Horley bomb hoax accused appear in court and deny all charges

A pair of alleged bomb hoaxers must wait until 2019 to face trial.

Christopher Gower, 20, along with a 17-year-old who cannot be named due to his age, appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday (May 25) and each pleaded not guilty to the offence. allegedly committed in Horley earlier this year.

They both denied telling Surrey Police that there was an explosive device at an address in Chaffinch Way in the early hours of February 28.

Gower, who lives in Chaffinch Way, also denied an additional count, of possessing a knife in Willow Brean in Horley, also on February 28.

Granting the pair continued unconditional bail, Judge Alexia Durran told them they must keep in touch with their solicitors, and may be required to attend the next pre-trial hearing on August 10.

The trial is expected to last two to three days and scheduled to take place in January 2019.
