A road outside a Smallfield school is likely to be closed until the early hours of Tuesday (March 6) due to a burst water main.
The 12”main has burst on Redehall Road outside Aurora School and the road is currently closed while repair work takes place.
Sutton and East Surrey Water (SES Water) has announced that work to fix the main is likely to continue into Tuesday.
It tweeted: “A road closure is in place at Redehall Road, Smallfield. This is due to a 12″ burst main outside Aurora School.
“Our works crew will be working to fix this leak this could carry on until the early hours of the morning.”
SES Water has stated that the change in weather conditions has increased the probability of burst water mains.
A spokesperson for SES Water said: “The increase in temperatures over the weekend has put pressure on pipework, causing a number of bursts on customers’ supply pipes.
“We ask customers to check their outside taps and internal plumbing for leaks and to contact a Watersafe plumber to make repairs as soon as possible.
“At the present time we do not have any widespread supply issues but are focussing all resources on checking our network for any issues that could affect customers.”
