Two charged with bomb hoax in connection with police operation in Horley

Two people have been charged with making a bomb hoax after police were called to reports of an explosive device at an address in Horley .

Christopher Gower, 20, of Chaffinch Way, Horley and a 17-year-old who cannot be named because of his age have been charged with making a bomb hoax.

Gower has also been charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon.

Police were called to the address on Chaffinch Way at 3am on Wednesday (February 28) following reports of a bomb in a property.

Officers attended and were supported by a specialist police dog unit who did not find any traces of an explosive device.

This is not a terrorism-related investigation and there is no risk to the public, police have said.

Police officers, along with Army bomb disposal experts and a dog unit, were reported to be on the scene and searching a property all day on Wednesday.

The pair have been released on conditional bail to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on April 6.
